Sami Issa is the Co-founder, Director, and CEO of Global AI, the world’s first sovereign AI hyperscaler.
He holds more than 30 patents and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University
Issa previously served as Executive Director at Mubadala, where he co-founded GlobalFoundries, served on its board for eight years, and helped lead the company’s global expansion, including the landmark Fab 8 development in New York.
Issa chaired the Abu Dhabi–Singapore and Abu Dhabi–Saxony semiconductor working groups, advanced national research and education initiatives, and deployed significant investments into semiconductor R&D. He also co-founded Cognit, the Mubadala–IBM joint venture that built the first Arabic AI platform based on IBM Watson. Earlier in his career, Issa held leadership roles at Intel, Broadcom, Texas Instruments, and National Semiconductor.
